Mass. Ave. Rebuild Update June 1
6/1/2015 8:17:00 AM
MassDOT's East Arlington Mass. Ave. Rebuild is expected to start in the Spring 2014 (Cambridge city line to Pond Lane (map)). Expect to see construction signs and pre-construction activity to begin along the route starting the week of May 27th, with construction beginning later in June. The primary goal of the project is to upgrade the aging infrastructure and improve safety for all users. This will include resurfacing the road, rebuilding sidewalks, replacing outdated traffic signals, adding crosswalks and bump-outs for pedestrians, and bike lanes for bike riders. The project is expected to take two construction seasons
June 16 Public Information Session Presentation
A public information meeting was held Monday June 16th at the Thompson School Gymatorium, 187 Everett Street, at 7 p.m. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce the MassDOT team and to provide an overview of the 2014 construction season to residents and other stakeholders. You can view the presentation here (1.4MBs PDF).
Stay in the Loop
The Town understands that this will have impacts on residents, businesses, and travelers in the area. The Town and MassDOT have worked with the contractor, J.H. What to Expect During Construction
• Mass. Ave. and side streets will remain open to traffic at all times.
• Reasonable access will be provided for pedestrians and vehicles through the project and to abutting properties.
• The Contractor will provide written notice to all abutters in advance of any sidewalk reconstruction work, and provide safe access to abutting properties during construction (72 hours to one week notice).
