The Arlington Human Rights Commission in partnership with the LGBTQIA+ Rainbow Commission are pleased to present a Day of Learning for the extended community focused on Building Welcoming Communities from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Discourse Lab of the Arlington High School on Saturday, February 10th, supported by Leader Bank.
This inaugural Day of Learning will feature keynote speaker Sasha Chanoff, Founder and CEO, RefugePoint, an organization that partners with refugees to access life-changing solutions and transforms how the world supports them. To learn more about Sasha's personal journey and history, we encourage you to watch a short video featuring his work and how he discovered his calling.
Through Sasha's keynote and break-out session, residents will have the opportunity to learn how we, as residents and neighbors, can work together to actively engage in continuing Arlington’s long-standing legacy of being a welcoming community.
In addition, the Day of Learning will feature an interactive discussion led by Staci Rosenthal on Engaging in Constructive Conversations around Religion in Today's Complex Climate. The Day of Learning will conclude with brief closing comments from local clergy members: Reverend Leah Lyman Waldron of Park Avenue Congregational Church UCC, Cantor Lisa Doob of Temple Isaiah, and Imam Kandeel Javid, Muslims for Progressive Values Boston Chapter Co-Chair. Refreshments provided by FoodLink will be served.
