Mission Statement
The Human Resources Department administers the Town's classification, compensation and benefits programs in compliance with Federal and State Labor Laws, along with local collective bargaining agreements. Additionally, the Department deals with a wide variety of workplace issues and seeks to improve the quality and effectiveness of Town services by recruiting the best employees, and reviewing and improving Departments' organizational structures.
Powers and Duties of Human Resources Board. (Town Manager Act Section 24A.)
There shall be established a Human Resources Board which shall consist of three members to be appointed by the Town Manager, subject to the approval of the Select Board. Each member shall be selected on the basis of his professional experience and expertise in the area of Human Resources administration. Said Human Resources Board shall be empowered, after consultation with the Human Resources Director, to hear a rule on employee appeals of adverse reclassification determinations of the Human Resources Director. Said Human Resources Board shall perform such other functions as may be provided for in the Town by-laws or in a collective bargaining agreement.
