Post-Election Audit

Every four years, Massachusetts holds a random drawing to choose three percent of precincts to perform an audit of the election day ballots. During an audit, ballots are hand-counted and the numbers compared to the results from election day. The goal of the audit is to verify the accuracy of the tabulators and the precinct tally process. The most common reason for discrepancies in the counts are ballots that the tabulator couldn’t read because the oval wasn’t dark enough. 

Arlington Precinct 9 has been chosen.  The audit will begin at 9 am and is expected to last several hours.  The public are welcome to observe the audit.
