Drop off events are once a month, from April through November, and are located at the Lexington Minuteman Hazardous Material Facility. Events are free (bring ID) but registration is required.

Bring These to the Minuteman collection events:
Insecticides, rat poisons, slug bait, mothballs, weed killers, flea, and roach powders. Insect repellent.
2. Paints, Solvents and sealers:
Oil based paints and stains, paint thinners and strippers, varnishes, shellacs and lacquers, metal polishes, aerosols. Do not bring latex (water-based) paint. Instead, dry it out and place it in regular trash.
3. Auto Care Products:
Engine Cleaners, degreasers, tar remover, used oil, gas and gas mixtures, antifreeze, brake fluid, waxes and polishes, automotive batteries.
4. Cleaners:
Bleach, spot removers, oven cleaners, polishes, disinfectants, rug and toilet cleaners.
5. Miscellaneous:
Poisons, pool chemicals, old chemistry sets, kerosene, dyes, non-alkaline batteries.
Please Do NOT Bring:
Asbestos
Medical waste or syringes
Radioactive materials
Prescription, over the counter, or narcotic drugs - disposal information
Cathode Ray Tubes (TV’s, computer monitors)
Water-based paints
Smoke detectors - place in the trash
Alkaline batteries - place in the trash
Fluorescent bulbs - take to Shattucks and Shattucks Heights
Save the Town money and offer to bring HHW waste items for your neighbors. This will reduce the number of trips to the Minuteman Household Hazardous Waste site. The Town is billed on a per car basis. Keep each material in its original container, do not combine.
Additional hazardous waste products and alternate locations to dispose of them below.
Mercury thermometers and thermostats, some batteries, (re-chargeable, lithium, NiCad, older button cell batteries made pre 2020) and propane tanks can be brought to the the Reuse & Recycling Center. Alkaline and newer button cell batteries go in your regular trash.
Waste oil can be returned to the place of purchase.
