Residential buildings that have dumpsters

Welcome!

If you live in an apartment, condo, or mixed use building, or are a landlord of one of these places, then here you can find some helpful information regarding trash and recycling.

Trash and Recycling

The Town of Arlington has a mandatory recycling program. If you’re living in an apartment building or a condominium complex, you may have a dumpster for trash and bins for recycling on your property. Learn more about what can go in the recycling and what goes in the trash here.

Reuse & Recycling

Reuse & Recycling Center is located at 33 Ryder Street.

Appointments are available to all residents during the week to drop off electronics, scrap metal and textiles to be recycled at our Reuse and Recycling Center. We also have monthly weekend recycling events, also by appointment only, for hard to recycle items. These include bulky rigid plastics, electronics, and rigid packing foam. Read more about what is accepted at these events and sign up here.

Bulky Item Collection

Examples include mattresses/box springs (one set), wood bed frames, furniture, microwaves, toilets, sinks, and area rugs and carpet (cut to 3’ wide, rolled, and tied).

Please check with your building management for the policy at your address.

Appliances

Please check with your building management for the policy at your address. Appliances are not allowed in a residential trash dumpster, per state law. Examples of appliances include air conditioners, refrigerators, ranges, water heaters, washers, and dryer.

Construction and Demolition Materials

These are never allowed in the residential trash dumpsters, per state law. Please contact a private company that manages waste for a fee.
