Town of Arlington
Home MenuPermit Filing Instructions
The first step to filing a permit application with the Conservation Commission is to find out if your project requires approval. You can use the town’s wetlands and floodplain map to determine if your project is located in a wetland resource area or buffer zone.
If your project requires approval, please contact the Conservation Agent via email.
Filing a Notice of Intent
A Notice of Intent is filed when you are planning a project that you know is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act and/or Arlington's local wetland protection bylaw. A successful application will result in an Order of Conditions.
For guidance, please consult the filing instructions for a Notice of Intent.
Filing a Request for Determination of Applicability
A Request for Determination of Applicability is a form filed when you are not sure if your project is subject to the Wetlands Protection Act and/or within the jurisdiction of the Arlington Conservation Commission.
For guidance, please consult the filing instructions for a Request for Determination of Applicability.
Filing a Request for a Certificate of Compliance
A Certificate of Compliance is required to close out an Order of Conditions. Once recorded at the Registry of Deeds, this document clears the title to the property.
For guidance, please consult the filing instructions for a Request for a Certificate of Compliance.
Utility Filing Guidelines
The Wetlands Protection Act includes exemptions for utility work that do not apply in Arlington. The Town's wetlands regulations establish requirements for filings related to utility work.
For guidance, please consult the instructions for filing for a utility project.
